W. Stacey Moore III, Managing Director

Mr. Moore is a Managing Director of the Anka Funds, focused on the Sustainable Ventures platform. Mr. Moore brings to Anka a long and successful career in investment and asset management, including personally overseeing the management and direction of investment for Bank of America funds totaling over $1 billion dollars, producing two of the top ranked funds in their respective categories. Prior and subsequent to his Bank of America successes, Mr. Moore professionally invested and managed capital investment in private and public equity markets. In addition, he has participated in the operation and growth of large and small businesses across a variety of industries. Prior to Anka and concurrent with his ongoing professional investments, Mr. Moore served as interim CEO of a portfolio company, where he aggressively grew sales in a difficult economy and created three different viable business entities. He launched a friends and family seed fund in late 2000 focused on building a diversified portfolio of seed and early stage investments and to help grow the entrepreneurial base in the Carolinas. That fund made six investments and is a top performer for seed funds with vintage years of 2000 and 2001. In addition to his investments through his fund, he has also made multiple personal angel investments and helped other angel investors with due diligence and deal structures.

Prior to founding the seed fund, he served as the Bank of America Portfolio Manager for a Small Cap Growth Fund and Mid Cap Growth Fund. Investments in both funds totaled more than $1 billion. During his tenure, the Small Cap Fund was ranked in the top decile of the Lipper Universe, as high as number 2 among all Small Cap Funds, achieving a one-year return in excess of 100%. Prior to his duties as Portfolio Manager, he was a Portfolio Analyst specializing in active and strategic asset allocation for the Investment Advisory Services Group. Before he became a professional investor, Mr. Moore was a Financial Analyst for a large diversified textile manufacturer with over $1 billion in revenues. Mr. Moore continues to serve as an Advisor to several Start-Up and Early Stage companies and is currently on the Board of Directors for Seafoods.com, Charlotte Sports Center, Dell Sports and Tailgating Ventures. He also serves on the Advisory Board to the Moore School of Business, University of South Carolina and was named to the 40 under 40 list published by the Charlotte Business Journal. Mr. Moore received his MBA in International Business from the University of South Carolina and BAs in Business Management and Economics from North Carolina State University.
